Hello your blog came up when I tried to google what to eat at Hawken! I’m also suprised Song is still open. When they first opened, the only thing I’d eat there is the penang prawn mee, which was pretty damn awesome. Then for god knows what reason they took it off the menu and the next couple of times I was there, I tried so hard to swallow their rubbery food (I was kinda forced to be there cos my friend wanted to “get-to-know” the pretty Hongkee chick working there).

Also when Song opened, the Chez Tessa aunty was suddenly suuuper duper friendly! But after one week I think she realized Song was no competition, then she went back to her old rude self.

Salt n battery used to be much better. Now they’re pretty crap.

Edamame used to be FANTASTIC when they just opened! (yup i’ve been around Brisbane for a while hehe). Fast service and food as cheap as Chez Tessa. Then they kept increasing the price and deteriorating the service… now the price is double and the last time I was there (which was a loooong time ago) I waited nearly twenty light years for my food.

Sorry for the long history lesson. Sigh, everything at Hawken is crap now la. What to eat? I think I’ll just go back to Chez Tessa.

@James – I think the lady at Chez Tessa is “lazy” trying to be polite to customers anymore cause she’s been working there for more than 10 years, according to source. The food at Song…. /sigh. I wonder why is Song restaurant still operating until today. Seriously.

You’ve been noticing the two ladies at Song.. hmm. :P

I think there are at least two different young ladies manning the counter at Song. One of whom is fairly courteous. The other is plain rude! (Even worse than the lady boss of Chez Tessa.) The food at Song is not authentic because the chefs are not from Malaysia.

@Ryan – I had similar experience last week. Usually I don’t complain much about food that much, and I basically eat anything that’s served in front of me. But Song’s service and food is ridiculously lousy. The noodle they served me is not edible – I wonder if they have qualified/experienced chef?

Do not ever eat at Song Malaysian. All seafood is dirty, frozen and tastes like rubber. They make you pay up front for a reason. Staff are obnoxious too. If you state you are not happy, they are rude and do not care – they just defend themselves and say that is how they do it, if you don’t like it too bad. Much to over-priced for what you get. I could not even eat this food after paying for it, and I eat anything!

chez tessa: the lady will frown at you if you couldn’t decide what to eat, esp. during peak hours.
edamame: no complains!
a salt and battery: deep friend beer chips, damn crunchy and delicious.

chez tessa: they have cheap cold tetra pack drinks for $1! cheap, indeed but after consuming the amount of MSG the uncle pours in, you might spend more on the drinks than the food! also, make sure you made up your mind before ordering during busy period or they aunty says more than just “sick pikk-ty” to you

edamame: i think it’s considered as gourmet restaurant so wouldn’t really complain about its pricing. one of my favourite too!

assault & battery, i mean a salt and battery: best chips you can find in brissie!
