Here’s a quick way to translate text directly from Google Search. Type the language pair, followed by the text you want to translate. For example, to translate “I love you” in French, search Google for: [en:fr love].

For now, this feature only works for language pairs that include English:
French
en:fr, fr:en
Italian
en:it, it:en
German
en:de, de:en
Spanish
en:es, es:en
Russian
en:ru, ru:en
Chinese
en:zh, zh:en
Japanese
en:ja, ja:en
Korean
en:ko, ko:en
What about English to English en:en ?
If you use the language pair en:en (English to English), Google shows definitions from Google Dictionary. For example, a search for [en:en astute] shows the definition of the word “astute” and the pronunciation.

How this benefits you?
For students whose English is not their mother tongue, they often faced with vocabulary difficulties when they are writing assignments. With this new system in place, it’s easier for students to overcome such problem. There are online translator available for free, but so far this is the best free translator I’ve encountered.
I have not tried the accuracy of the translator yet. To be on the safe side, I advice you to seek for proof reading before submitting your assignments.
